ASA to Celebrate Ageism Awareness Day: How you can help

When:  Sep 7, 2022 from 11:00 to 12:00 (PT)

The most widespread and socially accepted form of prejudice, ageism, is defined by the World Health Organization as “the stereotypes (how we think), prejudice (how we feel) and discrimination (how we act) towards others or oneself based on age.” And because of this, we are determined to explore cultural views on aging and portrayals of aging at the individual, community and national levels. To help combat this widespread form of prejudice, we need your help.

Join us for a discussion with our Ageism and Culture Advisory Council members as we talk about how we can join together to celebrate Ageism Awareness day on October 7, 2022.   Our plan is to generate awareness and educate others about the most effective ways to combat it.  We need your help.  We will discuss what ageism is and its various forms.  All interested members will be supplied with Tools to use, guidance on how to use them, and suggestions for ways to reach your community and others with this information.  We are reaching out to our members and allies to collaborate with us because together, we can make a difference. Ageism Awareness Day provides an opportunity to draw attention to the existence and impact of ageism in our society and how to reframe aging.
