Remember to join a great conversation (not a lecture) on Ageism with noted author and columnist Helen Dennis and John Feather PhD, immediate past CEO of Grantmakers in Aging, on Thursday, February 23 at 11 am PST. It is posted on ASA website under Education Events, etc.

This looks like a great conversation.  Will it be recorded and available to watch later?  (Unfortunatley, I can't attend the live event.)

Thanks to all for a lively and informative conversation. I look forward to the next one.

We ran out of time before I could mention something that came up in Breakout Group 4 (as interpreted and amplified by me): Ageism is very much a luxury of people like us and thus another example of white privilege. It is not something that many BIPOC can afford to be very concerned about because they face so many other -isms that do much more damage to one's body and spirit. When one is part of a multiple-jeopardy group, ageism may be the least threatening. Much more can be said about this, but I'll leave it there.

I was also in group 4 and I totally agree with Stephen. I guess we had a bunch of rabble-rousers in our break-out; we spent the majority of our time talking about how the focus on ageism can be an elitist pastime that is usually limited to the white and educated among us.

Ironically, Next Avenue had an article related to Ageism and COVID this morning. Below is the link:

Thanks, Joanne! This is an interesting article and, on the whole, positive news.
