Pennsylvania this month gathered input to launch their 10-year, state-led Master Plan for Older Adults to address that state's infrastructure and service coordination. The Keystone State has 3.4 million older adults, putting it in fifth place, nationwide, for most elders per capita. Only five states now have fully developed plans: California, Colorado, Texas, Minnesota and Massachusetts. Vermont's is in development and new York, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Michigan, Illinois, Florida, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine and the District of Columbia are in earlier stages of planning.
Not that it's a competition, but we think all 50 states should have such a plan.
