California On Aging 2023 Host Committee

    Hi All! I am sorry I went silent for a few weeks...was in recovery mode from OA23!
    We are gearing up for OA24 and here is where we are at:
    1. A few staff people will be coming out to SFO on May 22-24. I know many of you are not super local to meet then, but for those that are, we'd love to connect.
    2. We are aiming to release the Call for Proposals on June 7ish. We want a large number of CA presenters, so please start to share that this is coming and encourage friends and colleagues to submit.
    3. Our theme is going to be Innovation and Social Impact...who do you know in CA that is leading innovation in aging (not just tech)? We want to meet them and see how we can showcase their efforts. I'd love to set up meetings with them when I'm out west if possible.
    4. What local off-sites could we hold programming at during the conference that people can walk to? Any good ideas?
    5. We'll schedule our first virtual meeting once I know if anyone wants to meet in person in May. We'll meet quarterly at first and then move to more often as it gets closer.

    Hi Cindy -- Thanks for the update and announcements.  Probably won't drive down to SFO, but Jenn held a hybrid meeting of the Generations Editorial Group during the Conference and it went well -- perhaps that could be arranged in May?

    Hi Cindy, 
    I'm playing catch up to this thread regarding the CA planning for 2024, but am interested in assisting/taking part - etc. I am based in Rural Northern California, but would be happy to lend insight/assistance moving forward. I travel a great deal for work, but if I am home/in the state for any May dates I can join in -(virtually)? I am involved with the California Coalition on Family Caregiving and continue to create content for my own newsletter platform in caregiving - striving to overlap issues of improved communication within the field. So, there may be some overlap points for assisting, as well as submitting a proposal for a session for programming focused on caregiving/messaging/leveraging communications/media/ . Anyhow - wanted to jump into the mix if I can assist. Thanks - 954.383.1434
